Summer Mini Sessions are Here!

UPDATE!
This Summer Mini went fast, but there's still a chance to get in on it!

Things happen and sometimes a family can't make it after all. Because this session filled so quickly, and I know many more who were interested, but simply didn't act fast enough, I am starting a waitlist for possible openings.
The Waitlist will open up in the order requests were received, so don't wait! Get your name added now!
If enough people are interested, I may add a THIRD date!
Email me right now at info@BonellPhotography.com with "WAITLIST" as your subject-line.

33 Tips on Preparing for your Senior Session: Girls | Grays Harbor Premier Photographer

Hey there beautiful!
Are you excited!? I know I am! I absolutely LOVE Senior Sessions. They are so much fun and I REALLY want to help you put your best foot (or face) forward.
Us girls tend to be really hard on ourselves... and I mean,
really hard on ourselves. So I want to help you prepare for your session to help you come in feeling relaxed, confident, beautiful, and ready to ROCK this thing! So I've put together a great list to help you be camera ready.
Don't wait till the night before your session to start getting ready. Check out this list and start thinking about how you can do a few things now, to make your session run smooth, stress free and looking and feeling your best!

LADIES SESSION PREP
  • Haircuts at least one week prior. We all know we get frustrated with our hair the first couple of days after a new haircut! Give yourself plenty of time to master that new cut and style. (1-2 weeks is best.)
  • Haircolor at least one week prior. This will ensure that your skin is not stained from color. It also allows enough time for color to settle down and soften up. If you have it done much before two weeks, depending on how far you color is from your natural color, you could have lines from grow out.
  • H20 Staying hydrated helps your skin by preventing breakouts and giving you beautifully glowing skin. So start making it a habit now, weeks before your session, to get the best results.
  • Facial Blemishes tend to get WORSE when handled/scratched/picked, so do your best to refrain from handling those bad boys. If you don't already, start a routine now, to wash and care for your skin daily. Clear skin is a HUGE confidence booster. -- Don't worry though. We all get surprises and I can edit out the small stuff easily!
  • No Spray Tans Please (They tend to look more orange than tan in portraits.)
  • Nails (Make sure you have fresh polish or shine on hands and feet both. Expect them to show - chips stand out!)
  • Bring Extra outfits! (More than you think.) Think something fun that shows your personality as well as something nice that mom would be proud to hang on the wall or send in announcements, maybe even something dressy (prom dress for an example) Start putting it all together, or shopping for items you need. Bringing plenty of items will give us flexibility in matching your clothing to backgrounds and surroundings.
  • Hang It Up This makes for quick on-the-spot clothing decisions and keeps clothes looking great.
  • Dress in layers for variety and simple change-ups. (ex: tank, shirt, jackets, sweaters, scarfs...)
  • Accessories These can really bring personal style to your session. (Jewelry, hair, earrings, scarves, hats, etc.)
  • Bold/ Solid colors look best. Not a rule, but they often photograph better than patterns & pale pastels.
  • Shirts with Logos can be distracting.
  • Don't Wear a Hat before the session (hat hair) but bring some as accessories if you like.
  • No Sun Glasses before your session either because they leave red marks on nose, but bring some as a prop if you'd like for a shot or two.
  • Fresh Shave -but don't shave those legs 30 minutes before the session. This makes skin blotchy and red.
  • Glasses Most lenses have a glare. The safest option is to check with your eye doctor and ask if they’ll loan you a similar pair without lenses. Otherwise, I'll do my best to shoot at angles to minimize the reflection. Or you can remove your glasses entirely for the shoot. My rule of thumb however is, if you wear your glasses most of the time, we keep the glasses on for the shoot because it is part of your style and who you are.
  • Braces can be remove in Photoshop for an extra charge of $10 per image. Otherwise, try not to worry about them. Give a natural smile and enjoy yourself. A good smile with braces is far better than the awkward smile that comes when you try to hide them.
  • Be careful of heavy/thick Eye Liner This tends to make eyes appear squinty in photos, even if you're not.
  • Use Waterproof Mascara Non waterproof will flake or smear around the eye easily in the sun or with clothing changes.
  • Friends & Parents are welcome to join you and often can be a help. However, if they distract you, it may be best to meet them when the session is over. You’re welcome to have a couple of shots with a boyfriend, best friend, sibling, or parent at no extra charge.
  • Weather Don’t worry about clouds because they actually even out the light and make for ideal shooting conditions. But rain may be an issue depending on the look of the shoot or how severe the weather may be, and we may have to reschedule. Juli will try to contact you first, but feel free to email Juli if you have any doubts or concerns.

  • Accessories So many times, seniors will show up with great clothing and props and totally forget to bring various pieces of jewelry, extra shoes, jackets, scarves, etc. These items really dress up your session with personal style, making your session stand out and look crazy cool!
  • Lotion for dry skin areas that are exposed.
  • Q-Tips (to remove under eye makeup that "falls" during the session)
  • Bobby Pins / Hair Band etc for an end-of-session hair change up.
  • Mirror for on location session touch ups.
  • Hair Spray because you never know! I mean, this IS the Pacific Northwest!
  • Brush because... everything.
  • Baby Wipes for shoes/feet. This is surprisingly a big help if we are shooting outdoors. I try to keep some in my go bag, but I run out quickly with all teh shoots I do on the beaches or in muddy or wet areas.
  • Flip Flops so you don't end up trekking to and from locations in heels.
  • Nude bra's under light tops, Black bra under dark tops.
  • Cleavage Awareness Ladies... don't forget a cute tank for under those deep V tops and poses looking down at you. It's about YOU, not "the girls".
  • Tank Top/ Shorts (bike shorts, spandex, underarmor) something to wear under clothes for easy outdoor changes is helpful, but not necessary. I do have a portable changing room for outdoor, on location shoots. But by having something else on underneath, you will feel more comfortable making those quick changes on location.

THE NIGHT BEFORE...
Get all your clothes, accessories and props together and ready to go. Remember plastic ziplocs work well for jewelry and accessories so you can hang them with the corresponding outfits.
Stay Hydrated (It makes a big difference in the skin too!)
GET PLENTY OF REST!!!

DAY OF YOUR SESSION...
Start in the morning, and while getting ready, Drink water throughout the day to STAY HYDRATED
Style your hair! You will have these images for years, later on you will appreciate that you took a bit of time to prepare for your session. On this day, styling products, flat irons and curling irons will be your best friends.
Make up should represent you!
Avoid Sparkles in your make up, as it can sometime throw an odd reflection that will be seen in the photos.
Wear a lip color just a shade darker than your natural lips. This will make sure they stand out. Lip gloss is nice, so is mascara!
Remember shoes, socks for each outfit. Ladies remember bras and panties that work well under each outfit!
Eat ahead of time. (You are welcome to bring Snacks & liquids)

ARRIVAL...Arrive a little early, or on time to your appointment. Showing up late means you lose camera time, and we don’t want that. If you’re coming from out of town, give yourself plenty of time to find your way around.
Please don't forget to turn off your Cell Phone at the session.
And lastly, if you have a remaining balance on your Session Fee, it's due when you arrive.

Thanks again! I can't wait to see you soon!

18 Tips on Preparing For Your Senior Session: Guys | Grays Harbor Premier Photographer

Hey guys!
Are you ready to GQ this thing? Seriously, you are going to look so cool! Maybe you're not as excited about your Senior Session as the girls usually are, but you really should be, because between the two of us, you are going to look like you just stepped out of Maxim!
In order to do that, I've compiled this list to help you come in feeling relaxed, confident, and ready to ROCK this thing!
Now, don't wait till the night before your session to start getting ready and just throw a few things into a duffel bag. Check out this list and start thinking about how you can do a few things now, to make your session run smooth, stress free and have you looking and feeling your best!

GUYS SESSION PREP
  1. Bring Extra outfits! (More than you think.) Think something cool that shows your personality as well as something nice that mom would be proud to hang on the wall or send in announcements. Maybe even something dressy (dress shirt and tie for an example.) Start putting it all together, or shopping for items you need. Bringing plenty of items will give us flexibility in matching your clothing to backgrounds and surroundings.
  2. Hang It Up Please don’t come with everything stuffed into a gym bag like many guys have done. Haha! Make sure items are free of wrinkles and ready to go ahead of time. Then by taking a minute to hang everything will make for quick on-the-spot clothing decisions and keeps clothes looking great.
  3. Dress in layers for variety and simple change-ups. (ex: tank, shirt, button downs, jackets, sweater, scarf, etc.)
  4. Bold/ Solid colors look best. Not a rule, but they often photograph better than patterns & pale pastels.
  5. Avoid Shirts with Logos these can be distracting.
  6. Haircuts at least one week prior. We all know we hate our hair the first couple of days after a new haircut! So give yourself time to get used to that new cut or style.

Seriously. That's a combined savings valued anywhere between $700-$1,000 or MORE! Simply for booking your Senior Session with Bonell Photography to be held this July!

---------------------------------------------------

This year, I've started an new and exciting program for all Western Washington High School Seniors. Let me tell you... IT. IS. AWESOME!

July is Senior Month

And this July special is SUPER-OUTRAGEOUS!

Summer is, by far, the most popular time to have your SENIOR PHOTOS taken. But for many of you, getting your senior pictures won't even be on your radar until after school starts back up and you get that letter from the yearbook staff telling you when your deadline is. So why would you wait till you are once again busy with classes, homework, sports and other activities to have to schedule around?

Most Grays Harbor High Schools require your senior image submission to be turned into the yearbook adviser much earlier than you realize, and with very little notice.
(One particular local High School tends to send out the information to their Seniors with only a few WEEKS notice!) Honestly, by that time, it is a mad rush for literally hundreds of seniors.  And as a Senior Portrait Photographer, I can tell you that our September through December is a crazy busy season, packed full with last minute session requests, making it hard to fit everyone in and return the final product in time for you to select and turn in your favorite.

Here's what you need to do first...

July is just around the corner and there is extremely limited space left to get in on this special. So, please, DO NOT PUT IT OFF.

Contact me TODAY with any questions and to ensure your preferred date and time is still available before the remaining availability is all gone! Then BOOK IT to make sure someone else doesn't get your spot first!

It only takes a $50 retainer to book and RESERVE your spot for this July with your remaining balance for your chosen Senior Session simply due prior to the start of your session.

---------------------------------------------------

Just want an awesome yearbook image,
but not the whole session?

Then my Studio Headshot Mini Session is the perfect alternative for you!

Stand out and make your mark in your yearbook by getting a Headshot that your friends will wish they had.

This Mini Session Event is available for ONE DAY ONLY and closes out our July Senior Month.

Typically, Mini Sessions only give you ONE look, one background that everyone gets, with no alternate options or clothing changes. But with this event, you will have the ability to
personalize your look by choosing from any of our background options, Additionally you have your choice of booking either a 1, or 2 outfit & background change options. Then we will work together to come up with several cool headshot images for your online gallery. Quick, easy... and still personalized, all for a huge savings from our standard Studio Sessions!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
~Juli

Email Juli TODAY for all the details and to reserve your spot for your July Senior Session, or your Headshot Mini Session..

Private Online Galleries - [Bonell Photography: Grays Harbor]

Your online gallery with Bonell Photography now comes with maximum security.

Your privacy is among my top priorities. So all my client's galleries are password protected... 3X! First, in accessing the entire Client Galleries section, again to enter each individual Gallery. And finally with your own personal account setting! Every access point on the BP side has separate, unique, top security passwords that are highly sensitive. Then, you have the added availability to add your own private password to view your personal galleries with ease!

That being said, it's still easy for you to share your entire online gallery, with those you select, through our PRIVATE GALLERY INVITE. Think of it like a private party with a secret handshake. Simply invite people you would like to have full access to your images
by sending me your exclusive vip guests' email addresses. I'll then enter the addresses you send me, to your gallery's "guest list", and a PRIVATE GALLERY INVITE will be automatically emailed to them. They create their own personal account and BAM!!

Currently, you can invite up to 50 people to privately view your gallery, order prints and download the files, (when your packages includes the Digital Download.) If you don't want them all to have downloadable access, simply request a download code be required.

In addition to the security, the emailed invite only works once and is unique to the receiver. So if the email is forwarded, the invite won't work. Or if North Korea hacks into their email account thinking they are a movie industry, it wont even work for them.

Decide your "Private Party" is getting out of hand? You can simply let me know who the unruly guest is, and I will revoke their access to the gallery. ACCESS DENIED!

So no matter if you are booking a Senior Session, Wedding or even a Belle Boudoir session, rest assured that your images are safe with us.

Portraits Of Philanthropy {Grays Harbor Portrait Artist}

"We make a living by what we get,
but make a life by what we give"
~Winston Churchill

We truly love the opportunity to give back to our community members who have supported us for all these years, and to some of the great organizations that touch the lives of others. In the past, we offered Auction Cards to the local fundraisers, but while this helped them in small amounts, it kept our hands tied as to just how much we could give to those organizations who requested our help.

So in January 2014, we decided to discontinue our Auction Cards and make some BIG and exciting changes in the way that we give back. Changes that will allow us the flexibility to not only be more directly involved in giving back, but to be able to give more freely, more frequently, and more, financially, than we ever had before!
Over time, we thought long and hard about those organizations which have touched our lives personally, and which personal stories resonated with us, so we chose those specific ways to give back, directly to our community.

I'm so excited to announce our new Giving Back Programs for 2014, so here they are! (Cue drum roll.........)

1. HEALING FAMILIES
Families with children living with a serious Developmental, Physical or Life-threatening Challenge often don't get family portraits because of the already busy lifestyle they lead. However they deserve to have a fun day to celebrate their love and strength with a beautiful family portrait session.

2. CANCER WARRIORS
Cancer has touched so many lives, how could we NOT give to these amazing and brave individuals? So we would like to honor those who are battling or have already conquered cancer, with their own Portrait Session, letting their bravery and strength shine through.

3. LIL BUDDY's
After the sudden and unexpected loss of our sweet Buddy (an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie) in the summer of 2012, we sadly realized that we had not had any true portraits of him. This broke our hearts. Because of this, Juli started offering complimentary Pet Sessions in the studio to those who had a pet who had less than 12 months to live, due to a life threatening, incurable disease. Our pets truly are our family and should be cherished the same, don't you agree?

Here is how it works...
Up to 2 candidates per month, for any of our 3 programs,
will be selected and offered:

A complimentary 1 Hour Portrait Session
PLUS
The Full Gallery of Digital Images.

* A total potential value of up to $700 *

"No one is useless in this world
who lightens the burdens of another."
~Charles Dickens

Each of these 3 programs are possible BECAUSE OF YOU.
When you invest in your own session, (through your Session Fees and Product Ordered,) a percentage is set aside to provide these families and individuals with amazing memories that will last for generations.
This is a not for-profit program and is funded solely by Bonell Photography. Juli's time, as well as her talent and any product costs and services, are all donated by Bonell Photography.
If you would like to contribute, simply book your own session, or a session for a friend. Then be sure to tell your friends and help us spread the word about our Giving Back Programs and how they can help too!
Please note: We do not accept donations or volunteers for these programs, but we appreciate your willingness to help.

NOMINATE SOMEONE!
Nominate someone you know and love to be included in one of our 3 Giving Back Projects. Simply email us and tell us their story! We have experienced our own personal challenges, so we understand, and would love the opportunity to offer your friend or family member a session that will truly honor them.

THE CRITERIA
Although we would love to give complimentary sessions to everyone who meets the criteria of one of our programs, that is simply not possible. Only a very limited number of individuals/families are chosen each month for this project, so please be unrestrained, transparent and honest about your nomination.

Please write to us and tell us their story in up to 1,000 words about why you would like your candidate to be considered for a complimentary portrait session with Bonell Photography.
Subject line should read "Giving Back Project" through our contact page or to info@BonellPhotogrphy.com.
Be sure to include the name/s and all contact information for the candidate and yourself, including:
email, phone, mailing address and personal facebook page.

For verification purposes, their story must be able to be confirmed. Sadly, there are those who would try to take advantage of any opportunity like this, and would be willing to lie in order to receive such a gift. (i.e. "Service" dogs who are not officially trained and certified, Illegal use of disabled parking permits, etc. The list goes on.) So please make sure that we are able to easily verify their story through multiple named references and/or their facebook page. All information is for verification purposes only, and will be kept strictly confidential. Essays will be judged on sincerity, clarity, and relevance to the topic.

You must follow all of the above steps in order to qualify.
The candidate must also agree to their images being published and be willing to provide a testimonial submission in writing (email or hand written) after the session to share with others about their experience.
All chosen candidates must also agree to the Bonell Photography policy/contract prior to their session.
Each month, up to only 2 candidates will be selected and notified so that we may schedule their session.

Don't Be Afraid of Change. EMBRACE IT! [Grays Harbor Portrait Photographer]

First things first.... I have been so blessed these past 4 years. YOU are the reason I am able to continue this amazing journey. Your patronage while Bonell Photography was just starting up, your recommendations to friends, your encouragement and your continued support as our small home-based portrait business grew to include a popular downtown studio... it has all meant the world to me.

In order for Bonell Photography to continue to grow, in order for me to reach my dreams and goals for BP, there must be constant change. Yes, I am a big believer in setting goals, both short term and long. It's those goals that keep me pushing myself to always be better. As I mentioned in my last blog post, I am continuously studying, learning and working to expand on my craft and knowledge to be able to improve upon my skill set. This gives me the opportunity to offer high quality, professional portrait art that is never stale or ordinary. However, in order to reach some of my most exciting goals yet, I will also be making some adjustments to our current products and packages that we offer. A few changes will be immediate, but the majority of these 2014 changes won't take effect until March 1st, It's really not so much change, as it is growth. It is simply time for us to review and update our packages and products to find ways to better serve you, and provide you with the best in high quality service, products and print options on the harbor.

Ultimately, this upcoming change is great news! Yes, unfortunately there will be a handful of price increases, but the majority of our changes will be the revamping of our packages to offer you new high quality products like Library Bound Leather Albums, gorgeous Metal Prints, more Canvases, as well as new options for unique Custom Themed Session & affordable Mini Session Events.

WANT TO SAVE MONEY?  I KNOW YOU DO...
If you Pre-Pay for your 2014 Spring/Summer (Mar-Aug) portrait session before Friday, Feb 28, 2014
you will be locked in at our 2013 packages & prices!

At this time, we are actively working behind the scenes on our packaging, pricing and creating additional options to grow our business and provide you with the best packages and products ever... but I need your help! I want to hear from YOU. What options would YOU like to see available?  To help us out, please tell us what is most important to you in this short Changes Survey HERE. On March 1st, 2014, I will choose one entry to receive a special giveaway session as a thank you for helping us by telling us what options YOU would like to see! Your answers will directly help us make those decisions on what to keep and what is worth eliminating, to make room for bigger and better things!

Train Track Sessions are Illegal? UPDATED!

Senior on railroad tracks

What??? But I see friends' family, senior and even wedding pictures on the tracks all the time!?!

I get asked several times a year to have portrait sessions on Railroad Tracks. In fact, I have done them a handful times in the past, and they were among some of my most popular images to date. I mean look at these for example. You not only get a great perspective shot, but it is a cute theme that represents you are headed somewhere in your life. A new beginning maybe? But both of these images within this post, could have actually gotten me arrested! This location idea has been extremely popular nationwide, especially for HS Seniors, for several years, but now when I am asked to have a session at one of the many track locations in our area, I say, "no", and here's why.

First of all, it's dangerous. Not just the fact that people twist their ankles or get caught in the rails all the time, but yes, what seems obvious to me, and I'm sure to you as well, is that you don't stand on the tracks to have your picture taken with a train barreling down on you.  But here's the problem, most trains do not run on straight, completely visible tracks. There are bends, trees, hills, etc that obstruct the conductors view of you as well as your view and the sound of the train quickly coming your way. In fact, just late last year, a teacher who taught art and photography was struck and killed by a train while taking photos on the tracks.

Roughly every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. -Operation Lifesaver

That's not enough of a reason? How about this? Here are 6 reasons the FRA's "Operation Lifesaver" lists as to why you should never have a Portrait Session on the Train Tracks.
  1. Trains can’t stop quickly to avoid people or vehicles on the tracks.
  2. An optical illusion makes it hard to determine a train's distance from you - and its speed.
  3. The average train overhangs the track by at least three feet.
  4. Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and rights-of-way are private property.
  5. No tracks should be assumed to be abandoned or inactive.
  6. People in your community mimic your behavior.

"Well, what about those tracks that aren't being used by trains often or at all?"
Those are called DEAD tracks. And as it states on the FRA's (Federal Railway Association) website, ALL tracks, live or dead, are PRIVATE PROPERTY and you are ILLEGALLY TRESPASSING by doing anything other than legally crossing tracks via a marked roadway, etc.
So you say you are willing to take your chances on a dead track since they are "safe". Then I guess you won't mind taking the risk to you AND your clients of each being fined "up to $10,000, and even possible arrest." So now think again.... is that image really worth the risk?

Lets backtrack (no pun intended)...
If there are so many photos out there of people on the tracks, then they must not be enforcing it, right? Wrong!
Before I knew it was illegal, I actually had a police officer pull up next to me at my last session at the RR tracks, and nicely say, "You know I can not only fine you, but actually take you in for doing that, right?"

WOW! Not only was I surprised, but I WAS LUCKY that he was so nice to me about it. I had no idea! After a short chat with the officer, I started looking into it more online. These property owners actually do call the police when they see trespassers. So you really are taking a big chance, just for an unoriginal, cliche of a portrait that has become no more creative than spot color. (But that's another topic all together.)
"We understand the passion that photographers have for their work; however, they may not realize that using train tracks as a backdrop for portraits of high school seniors, wedding parties, and families is not only dangerous, it is illegal trespassing,” -Operation Lifesaver President Helen M. Sramek

Top priority is safety, true, but as Professional Photographers, I would also think that each and every TRUE PROFESSIONAL should be offering our clients more CREATIVE and ORIGINAL options by now anyway, without the risk of a $10,000 fine and possible arrest to the photographer AND their clients.

So now, the hard part, (or easy, depending on how you look at it.):
Educating not only our potential clients, but also our friends, families, fellow photographers and especially HS seniors, that taking pictures on the tracks is not only terribly dangerous, but also illegal! It's time to think outside the box.

UPDATE!!!

Since posting this article 8 months ago, not only have I received countless comments, questions, emails, facebook messages and over 128,000 views, and thousands of shares. Some of the responses I've received have been positive and grateful, and plenty who, lets just say were not. Awareness is education and education is power.
The most comment question I get asked is this one that I received from a fellow professional photographer in North Carolina just last week....
"... I see these photos online in Facebook, Instagram, Google and Pinterest all the time. I have shared your blog post and information, but not everyone is happy to receive it. They get defensive and claim that they will continue to do it. What is the next step when education isn't working? Is there anything I can do to curb this kind of behavior?"

YES! TAKE ACTION!
Anyone can anonymously REPORT IT and here's how...

  • Start by locating your OLI State Coordinator for where the offending photo is from, by going to this page http://oli.org/state_coordinators/
  • If your state's OLI has a facebook page, then send a private message asking them how they prefer to be notified of a photographer who is shooting on the tracks.
  • Send the state coordinator a direct link to the photo's location and any contact information you may have on the photographer or organization using the image. If your state coordinator does not have a Facebook page, then send an email as that should also be listed in the OLI link above. (Some coordinators prefer email, others don't have a preference.)
  • OLI will NOT reveal how or who reported the image. They will contact the photographer or organization directly, fully educate them of the dangers, legal issues and how displaying such images encourages this behavior in others, and they may even choose to contact the railway company to let them make the decision on any action they would also like to take.

Prefer to APPROACH & EDUCATE them yourself?
Here are a few links that are easy for you to copy and paste to share with them and help back up your statement and reasons for concern.

---> Ok... So you think "REPORT IT" sounds bad.
Read my post again, carefully this time...  You will see that I am in no way telling people to call the police or federal government on those who shoot on tracks. That would be ridiculous. It is simply a choice between personally educating these people, or have OLI (Operation Lifesaver) educate them. That is what they do. Educate. Nothing more.  OLI would make the decision if the individual has done anything extreme enough to warrant any further action.

Thank you, and keep spreading the word!

How to Choose a Senior Portrait Photographer...

Hey Seniors! It's that time! Time to start planning and researching photographers for your

Not everyone chooses to get “Senior Portraits” taken, but those who do, get them taken anytime between spring of their Junior year, all the way up until a few months before graduation. There is no wrong or right time to have them taken and it's never too early to book – just a preference on your schedule, season, yearbook deadline, or any number of reasons. However, there are BETTER times to book, and certain times of the year that you can get a great deal on them too!

When is the right time for YOU?
Well, think about your yearbook deadline and other needs for the images, as well as the look you want. If you want to include one of your images in the yearbook, you will want to book your session for at LEAST a full month prior to your yearbook deadline!
Weather is also a big part of scheduling here along the Washington coast.
Want it at the beach, along a river or a lake? I suggest a July-September time-frame
Want it outside in the fall, you are likely going to be dodging the rain predictions. Spring is the hardest time in the Pacific Northwest for an outdoor session. So if you really want those spring flowers, I recommend booking in March, and no later than Spring Break. In Spring, I also recommend reserving TWO days in order to have a planned backup date... in case of poor weather.
But keep in mind that Bonell Photography also offers a great studio experience!

There are a number of things you can look for in Senior Portrait Photography that may (or may not) determine which photographer or studio you choose,
      • Quality of the images,
      • Location and Studio options,
      • Outfit changes,
      • Product choices (prints, digital images, etc.),
      • All around experience,
      • Cost, etc.

For those just starting the search, I’d love to explain a few things about what makes Bonell Photography UNIQUE and what types of clients enjoy our sessions. We include a few things that no other photographer or studio offers;

 #ONE....
I create sessions that are catered to YOUR INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITY... [Yeh, they all say that don't they?] But I really take the time to get to know what you like, your style, your favorite things to do and places to just hang out, and I use them whenever possible, to totally give you a custom session. Most importantly we have loads of fun at our sessions, and always aim to help you feel great in your own skin. (I also tend to be a goofball while shooting, so don't be surprised if I start acting a bit cray-cray! LOL!)

 #TWO...
My Senior Sessions are "All Inclusive Custom Packages." While I do not require you to purchase prints or digital images following your session, I know you'll not be able to pass them up. So you are able to customize your Senior Package by selecting either of our Studio or On Location Sessions, or even a one-of-a-kind Signature Session. And then customizing how you want to receive your images after that.

While every session includes an Private Online Gallery, each session also includes options to choose either a full, Hi-Res Digital Gallery Download (at a reduced rate for pre-orders only) or a Sale on your initial print order, with a complimentary digital image of each individual print purchased!

Just want a Yearbook Headshot? Email me! Each August-October, I schedule a couple days either in the Studio or at a location, for Senior Mini Sessions at a great deal! This is perfect for that quick but amazing Yearbook Headshot!

Getting Senior portraits taken truly is an INVESTMENT in your future and your self confidence as you start your final year of High School and begin the rest of your life. You can have a friend or family member take your pictures anytime. But this moment is special... This moment is one of those amazing milestone moments in your life, when you truly deserve the best in quality and experience. You deserve every opportunity to have amazing Senior Photos. So if you are questioning whether you can afford it? DON'T. Because Bonell Photography even offers ZERO Interest Payment Plans on our Sessions, Collections or Print Packages ordered through me personally, so you don't have to sacrifice quality over a budget. Simply ask for our Payment Scheduling Agreement and I will set you up with all the details!

 #THREE...
We have teens of our own and know how brutal and skewed high school and the media can be at times. EVERYONE deserves to have AMAZING photos of themselves to commemorate such an important time in their life. And we pull no stops to make you feel and look great and bring out the absolute best in you so that you shine!

Beyond all else, I know that my clients like to have FUN and they come to us for the unique and personalized style and outstanding quality and service.

If you have ANY questions about what to expect at a session with us, have any questions or would like to book your session, please feel free to contact me at info@bonellphotography.com anytime!
THANKS! I can't wait to hear from you!

Hey there!

I'm Juli Bonell - Beauty Photographer.

You could easily say that I'm a bit eclectic; an outgoing introvert who's obsessed with vanilla chai lattes, travelling, forensic science & zombies. I see beauty in urban decay, and I love yoga just as much as I love singing loudly in my car with the windows down. (Let's just say that last one's not pretty.)

Thanks for visiting my blog. Feel free to take a look around and connect and chat with me about your photography needs. Enjoy!
